Vaka Eiva (Canoeing Festival)

24th November to 1st December

Vaka Eiva has come from small beginnings in 2004 to become the largest international annual event in the Cook Islands and is now an established event on the international paddling calendar. We combine the spectacle of competitive paddling with more laid back “fun in the sun” events served up with the inimitable Cook Islands hospitality – a weeklong paddling festival with something for everyone!

Arguably the biggest sporting event in the Cook Islands

Vaka Eiva is an international paddling competition held every November that sees paddlers from all around the world travel to Rarotonga to compete against the best of the best in an intense but fun filled, week-long event.

Cook Islands Canoeing Association (CICA) is the governing body for outrigger canoeing (Vaka) and kayak in the Cook Islands. They host not only the National calendar races and events, but also the world-renowned week long International Matson Vaka Eiva Festival held every November.

The Cook Islands are also a destination on the International circuit of Te Aito; the worlds premier elite V1 racing calendar. They start Oe Vaka early through our very successful youth development schools program BSP Vaka Iti encompassing K1, K2, V1, V3, V6, V12 lagoon sprints and V1, V3 & V6 marathon racing.
