Trader Jacks

Trader Jacks bar and restaurant bar and restaurant is an institution in the Cook Islands, offering great food, great service, great drinks and a great time.

Overlooking the waters of Avarua Harbour the Traders' restaurant enjoys a stunning setting along with a reputation for quality dining, with superb, freshly-caught seafood a feature.

The Traders bar is one of the most popular in the South Pacific.

But Trader Jacks is more than just somewhere to eat and drink - it is a place where you can experience the Cook Islands, meet the local characters and enjoy the South Seas lifestyle.

With its "bar-over-the-water" ambience, Traders retains a roguish charm - not least thanks to the larger-than-life presence of the proprietor himself, Jack Cooper (aka "The Trader").

The Paw Paw Patch

The Paw Paw Patch is a restaurant of such renown even other restaurateurs say they like to go there for a meal on their nights off.

And it isn't surprising. In today's times where surroundings are as important as the presentation of food, the Paw Paw Patch is without peer in the Cook Islands.

By providing a simple, classy yet funky ambience using colour, lighting and some spectacular artworks, it ensures you know you are about to embark on a dining experience when you visit the Paw Paw Patch.

Enjoy a drink up at the well stocked bar and you can choose between enjoy the balmy night outside or a table tucked away in a corner where you can enjoy good conversation, fine wine and superb food.

Following the European trend of integrating the kitchen into the restaurant means you can enjoy being able to watch the two top class chefs at work, preparing some of the most stunning presentation of dishes you will find anywhere in Rarotonga.

The menu is very flexible slant on cosmopolitan food with a Pacific Island flavour, using the best of both local and New Zealand or Australia imported produce.

The two New Zealand trained chefs take pride in the complete presentation of the food they create for your table and continually look for exciting new gastronomic ideas while keeping a core menu of dishes which are firm favourites of their patrons.
